Hadith

Sahih Bukhari — Narrated by Masruq, I asked ‘Aisha which deed was most loved by the Prophet. She said, “A deed done continuously.” I further asked, “When did he used to get up (in the night for the prayer).” She said, “He used to get up on hearing the crowing of a cock.”

The virtues of the Night of Al Qadr

Firstly:   There are reports which speak of the great virtue of doing acts of worship on Laylat al-Qadr. Our Lord, may He be blessed and exalted, has told us that it is better than a thousand nights, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that whoever spends this night in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward will be forgiven his previous sins.   Allah says: “Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the Night of Al Qadr (Decree). 2. And what will make you know what the Night of Al Qadr (Decree) is? 3. The Night of Al Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months). 4. Therein descend the angels and the Rooh [Jibreel...

Some explanations regarding to Zakat al-mal

Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alikum, Praise be to Allah. Zakat has been enjoined by Allah in order to purify wealth, make it grow and bring blessing, and to help the poor and needy. It is a great obligation and it is not permissible for a Muslim to neglect it or careless about the matter of zakat, or to be lazy about giving it to those who are entitled to it, because of the stern warning concerning that which is mentioned in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). We have to know that the wealth belongs to Allah and He is the One Who has enjoined zakat and has warned against neglecting it. Allah says: “And perform As-Salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah), and give Zakat, and bow down (or submit yourselves with obedience to Allah)...

Some of the Virtues of Shaban

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Assalaamu Alaikum, Praise be to Allah, prayer and peace be upon the Master of Messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has favoured some days and months for fasting over others, such as the month of Sha’baan, which is a great act of worship. There are many hadeeth which confirm this act of the Messenger in the month of Sha’ban : 1- Usaamah ibn Zayd said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I do not see you fasting more in any other month than in Sha’baan.’ He said, ‘That is a month concerning which many people are heedless, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is the month in which people’s deeds are taken up to the Lord of the Worlds, and I would like my deeds to be taken up whilst I...

Want Allah to Forgive You? Forgive Others

Want Allah to Forgive You? Forgive Others If we want Allah to forgive us, we should be forgiving of others and willing to overlook their wrongs. This is part of what it means to be good to others. Allah describes his believing servants as “those who restrain their anger and are pardoning towards people.” He then says: “Indeed, Allah loves those who do good.” [Sūrah Āl `Imrān: 134] Indeed, Allah says: “And let not those of you who possess wealth and abundance swear against giving to the near of kin and the poor and those who have had to emigrate for Allah’s sake. They should forgive and forebear. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” [Sūrah al-Nūr: 22] Righteous deeds of all kinds bring us closer to Allah, but especially kindness to others. We should show kindness to...

Needing Allah ; Needing Other People

Needing Allah ; Needing Other People There can be no doubt that human beings need each other. We all need other people. Likewise, many other people depend on each one of us. People in society assist each other and serve each other’s needs, even in ways that we are often unaware of. However, we do not rely on others in the same way that we rely on Allah. We know that He alone is Self-Subsisting, Self-Sufficient. All the sustenance we have and all the success we enjoy ultimately stems from Him. Being aware of this fact is crucial. Someone who understands this and believes this will always retain his or her dignity. There is a great difference between helping one another in a dignified manner as part of the natural course of social existence – the best manifestation of which is to help one another in righteousness and...

Abu Bakr, Aisha, Umar….who is your role model?

Abu Bakr, Aisha, Umar….who is your role model? Because of the comprehensive culmination of their unique yet coexistent personalities, the Ṣaḥābah were the greatest generation in human history. While the Prophets and Messengers of Allāh were more beloved by Him, higher ranking in Jannah, and more pure in their īmān (faith), they did not all live during the same period to form a single generation. The companions of Muhammad (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam), who are the highest caliber believers after the Prophets, lived together in the same lifetime as the Messenger of Allah (ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam), enabling them to be the greatest generation. “The best people are those living in my generation, and then those who will follow them, and then those who will follow the latter…” Sahih Bukhāri But they...
