Introduction

Definition:

MSAJ, which stands for Muslim Students Association – Japan, is a national, independent organization in Japan that coordinates Muslim students’ local organizations. It was established on September 1960 in Japan and currently comprises 32 local organizations.

Aims and objectives
1.To exalt the words of Allah and work for the welfare of its members.
2.To promote better understanding of Islam based on Quran and Sunnah, to increase Islamic awareness and to strengthen Islamic brotherhood among Muslim students and trainees.
3.To work for the promotion and establishment of better and constructive relations with non-Muslims, so as to eliminate many of the perceived notions and misunderstanding about Islam and to contribute to its propagation.
4.To work for the unity and cause of the Muslim Ummah globally.
5.To coordinate and cooperate with Islamic organizations of similar objectives.

The structure of MSAJ is composed of:
1.President (Selected from the Representatives by MS)
2.Secretary General (Selected from the Representatives by MS)
3.Treasurer (Selected from the Representatives by the President and SG)
4.Secretary of Social Affairs (Selected from the Representatives by the President and SG)
5.Secretary of Public Relations (Selected from the Representatives by the President and SG)
6.Secretary of Culture and Publications (Selected from the Representatives by the President and SG)

Election of the new officers is normally done every year during the “Annual Meeting/Summer Camp”. A President of a Local Association may offer or nominate himself to for a post. The Majlis Shura (MS) would then elect capable hands for the posts of President and Secretary General (SG). The other four members would be selected by President and SG within two weeks from their election. The MS members must be a Student of Higher Institution within Japan or a Post-Doctoral Fellow and must also be the President of a Local Organizations that have more than 20 members. MS shall meet at least once a year, and shall be the supreme power and policymaker of the MSAJ.
